A Chinese crypto miner arrested for power theft

With the popularity of cryptocurrency, different types of crimes are also increasing. Hacking and power theft are most popular crimes among them. Recently Chinese authority has arrested an individual who was allegedly involved in stealing a huge of amount of electricity power to mine clandestine cryptocurrency. 

More than 200 computers have been shut down in the eastern region of Anhui Province due to their illegal activities that include power theft for mining bitcoin and ether.

Between the period of April and May 2018, when local power supplier noticed abnormal power consumption of 150,000 kW hours, they informed Chinese authority. Finally, they took the suspect in prison.  Interrogation revealed that the suspect wanted to earn huge money by mining cryptocurrency. But when he found that the power cost for mining cryptocurrency was exceeding 6,000 yuan ($921), he decided to steal power to continue mining process.
