Whether life had ever been on Mars or will be in future, it is a part of research but discoveries show that people may live there in future. In recent discovery, an enormous lake has been found in 1.5 km below the red planet surface.  Invention of 20 km wide lake on Mars shows that water and life may exist there.

Scientists discovered this enormous lake using Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (MARSIS). Mars Advanced Radar is capable to find out the existence of underground water on Mars using radar pulses. Radar pulses invade the surface of red planet and reach subsurface to collect information so that it could be send to spacecraft. MARSIS evaluates how the radio waves work and collect data from subsurface of Mars. A research team conducted an experiment from May 2012 to December 2015 in which they reviewed a region called Planum Australe, situated in the southern part of Mars. This team was led by Roberto Orosei of the National Institute for Astrophysics in Bologna, Italy. They captured 29 sets of radar samplings that help scientists draft the outlines of the lake.

Scientists are trying to find out water source on Mars so that human beings could be survived there. However NASA will send a spacecraft in 2030 which will land on Mars.

”This is a stunning result that suggests water on Mars is not a temporary trickle like previous discoveries but a persistent body of water that provides the conditions for life for extended periods of time,”said Alan Duffy, an associate professor at Swinburn University in Australia, who was not involved in the study. “Water is there. We have no more doubt, “says Enrico Flamini, Mission Manager, the Italian Space Agency’s Mars Express.
