There are two Everest Base Camps - South Base Camp and North Base Camp located opposite sides of Mount Everest. Both base camps are located in different country at different altitude. Nepal has South Base Camp at a height of 5,364 metres above the sea level and Tibet has North Base Camp at an altitude of 5,150 metres. These are initial camps where mountain climbers stay before ascending or after descending. If climbers want to climb through southeast ridge, they will reach South Base Camp and for climbing through northeast ridge, they will have to use North Base Camp.
