Unlock 2.0 phase is currently underway in India. But there is no reduction in corona infection. As the testing progresses, the corona infection also increases. In this situation, the Government of West Bengal has again called upon Lockdown to prevent Corona infection. However this Lockdown will be only for two days in a week. In this week, lockdown is going to happen on 23rd July (Thursday) and 25th July (Saturday). While in the next week, it is going to occur on 29th July (Wednesday). Lockdown will be followed in the entire state from 6 am to 10 pm. People will be allowed to go outside only for emergency work. Legal action will be taken against unnecessarily wanderers.

It seems that no particular day is fixed for lockdown. But the question is that, is just two days of lockdown enough to prevent corona infection? The lockdown imposed by the Indian government in March, 2020 couldn’t break the chain of Corona infection While it was continued more than two months. However, it became successful to prevent the exponential growth of this infection at that time. As the unlock 1.0 started, people begun coming outside their home for work and the infection started growing up too. It was natural because people would have definitely come in contact with each other.

I think only two days are not enough to prevent Corona infection, because fourteen days quarantine are necessary for all the Corona patients. It means that lockdown should be imposed for more than 14 days to prevent the spread of Corona infection. Lockdown can be successful when every citizen will understand that why it is necessary. Lockdown imposed in March couldn’t stop the spread of corona infection because of the movement of people. Only government can’t make it possible. Citizens should also take the responsibility to make the lockdown successful. Lockdown means all types of operations should be shut down except essential things like grocery shop, vegetable market, healthcare, electric office and etc. When people go outside, they must follow social distancing and wear mask on his face to prevent the infection. They must try not to come in contact with any outsiders. I think people now better understand the nature of Coronavirus and so they can make their own guidelines to prevent its infection. In order to eradicate the existence of Coronavirus, people must stay at home during lockdown. If the guidelines are followed for 14 days at least, then it is possible to break the chain of Corona infection. However, it is difficult to follow these guidelines for 14 days continuously. That’s why lockdown happened in March couldn’t prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

What will remain closed during the lockdown?

According to this article, government and private offices will remain closed during the lockdown. No transport will be available on the road whether it is public or private. Even commercial establishment will shut down their all operations. It means that nobody will be able to go outside his home. However, people engaged in essential services will be allowed to join their work.

What will remain opened during the lockdown?

All kinds of health related services will be available for public. Patient party will be allowed to use private or public vehicles. Medicine shops will remain open as it comes under essential things. Apart from these things, there are various essential things like electricity, food delivery services, water supplying, fire station will remain opened. All types of media will continue their operations. Industry will function during the lockdown. E-commerce services will function to deliver the products to consumer’s home and the transportation of goods will continue also. Tea gardens are also given relaxations.
