The first task for Thaddeus assigned by Benjamin Franklin was to strengthen the wall at Fort Billingsport as it was defending the city of Philadelphia from intruders. Fort Billingsport was located at the mouth of the Delaware River. If invaders would penetrate Fort Billingsport, they could move towards Philadelphia and capture it. That’s why Franklin recruited Thaddeus to make defensive wall at Billingsport very strong so that British intruders could not invade it. Necessary military force was provided by Franklin.
Due to good performance, Thaddeus was appointed as a colonel of engineers in the continental military. He could successfully strengthen Fort Billingsport and ensured Americans that the British army couldn’t be easily able to break the defense system of Fort Billingsport.
