If you see the location of Hazratbal Shrine, you will say it is really a paradise where god lives. Emperor Shah Jahan made the original building of Hazratbal Shrine in the 17th century. It has a relic, the Moi-e-Muqqada, which is known to be a hair of Prophet Muhammad, according to several Muslims. The word “Hazrat” belongs to Urdu language which means “respected” and “bal” is a Kashmiri word which denotes to “place”. This is one of the holiest Muslim Shrine located on the left bank of the Dal Lake, Srinagar, India. You can see a beautiful mountain range behind of Hazratbal Shrine in the above picture. It seems that it is an imagination of an artist.
The luxurious building was treated as the pleasure house. However in 1634, it was changed into a prayer hall, as per the order of the Emperor. But only men are allowed to go inside the prayer hall. There is an outer hall in the building where women are allowed to enter.
