Types of probiotics
Probiotics are generally divided into two groups called Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, but only a dietician can tell you which one is necessary for your body. So discuss with your dietician before you opt any of them.
1. Lactobacillius
Lactobacillus is generally found in yogurt and fermented food items. These bacteria are friendly - means not harmful for human body. These are already present in our digestive organs including urinary and genital systems. These are mainly used to digest lactose (the sugar that is found in milk we consume). Other than that it is also capable to treat several other diseases like diarrhea, rotaviral diarrhea and traveler’s diarrhea. It is also helpful in preventing Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammation of the colon and colic in babies.
2. Bifidobacterium
These types of bacteria are also capable to boost the function of digestive system. These are used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrom (IBS). If you want to take these bacteria inside your body, you need to eat dairy products. These are efficient to break down foods and reduce the count of bad bacteria in your body. The consumption of Bifidobacterium raises the count of good bacteria killed during treatment with antibiotic.
