Maggi noodles - convenient and fast

Although maggi noodles are very popular in India, I haven’t eaten them so far. However my nephew often eats maggi when he doesn’t find anything in the kitchen for eating. Today also, he made Maggi and had it with his father and a friend. It is very easy to cook. It takes a few minutes to be prepared and then you can have it. Today I saw my nephew cooking maggi noodles. It was ready to be eaten within five minutes. I think maggi takes less time to be prepared than chow mein. Chow mein is also a fast food and prepared very quickly. I have eaten chow mein many times with egg and chicken. I like them very much. But I never tried maggi.

Then I started thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of eating maggi, because everything has two sides - good and bad. I searched in google and came to know that maggi is also known as a junk food which doesn’t carry enough fiber, vitamins, and minerals for the human body. However it provides a lot of energy.

I found the nutritional value of maggi noodles (1 cup). Here goes the value:

  • Calorie 325
  • Carbs 44 g
  • Fat 13 g
  • Protein 7 g
  • Sodium 890 mg
  • Dietary fiber 2 g
  • Sugars 3 g

I found the above nutritional value here. The amount of calories and carbohydrates is very high in maggi. While it has very little fiber which the human body requires to flush out waste materials.

Benefits of eating maggi noodles

Maggi is capable of providing a lot of energy because it is made of wheat flour. It also contains dehydrated vegetables, sauces and palm oil. Dehydrated vegetables are loaded with the original nutrition of vegetables, but you can get more from fresh vegetables. You can eat maggi when you don’t have anything edible in the kitchen because it can not only provide you with more energy and carbohydrates, but also a certain amount of fat, vitamins, protein and minerals. If you don’t have enough time to cook anything, then maggi noodles are a good option.

Disadvantages

The consumption of maggi can provide you with a huge amount of energy and carbohydrate, but it fails to give you enough fiber, vitamins, minerals, fat and protein. That’s why it is considered as a junk food and you know it is not good for the digestive system. Junk food can disrupt regular bowel movement if it is taken regularly. Fiber is an essential nutrition to keep bowel movement smooth and regular. So you should avoid the consumption of maggi noodles on a regular basis if you don’t want to be constipated. Also you should add sufficient fiber in your daily diet to maintain regular flush out of toxins from the body.
