This is not a homemade buttermilk. I bought it from a grocery store. It tastes sour. You can add some sugar to change its taste. According to healthline, this buttermilk is different from traditional buttermilk. It is fermented and loaded with beneficial bacteria that help digest food easily.
Cultured buttermilk contains several nutrients that include Calories, carbohydrate, protein, fat, fiber, vitamin and other minerals. Intake of only 245 ml of cultured buttermilk can provide you the following nutrients:

The above value is taken from healthline.
I have eaten milk and curd several times but never tasted buttermilk before. It was delicious. As I have told you it tastes sour, I consumed it by adding some sugar. I would like to have it again because it has beneficial bacteria that can help you eliminate bad bacteria as well as toxins from your body.
Other than that, it can help improve bones, oral health and control cholesterol levels and blood pressure. But in some cases, people are advised not to eat dairy product because of allergic reactions. However, some people consume buttermilk despite being intolerant with dairy product. I don’t know whether I am intolerant with dairy product but I can’t consume curd because it can trigger asthma symptoms. Doctor strictly said me to avoid the consumption of curd and banana. Both can increase breathing problem. However, they didn’t say to stop taking milk or other dairy products. So, I take all of them except curd. But I don’t know whether I should take buttermilk.
I just searched online to know whether asthmatic can take buttermilk and found that everyone has different opinions on this topic. Some people think all dairy products should be avoided and some say that dairy products don’t trigger asthma symptoms unless someone is intolerant.
In my opinion, you must consult a doctor and follow his guidelines. Every doctor may have different line of treatment. So, it is better to follow one’s guidelines instead of all.
Yet, everyone should taste buttermilk once. It is delicious.
