Powerlessness

When I see my mother, I can understand the real meaning of powerlessness. My mother is paralyzed since 2011. It was Dec, 24. I came back home with Christmas cake because the next day was Christmas. My mother was sleeping at that time. When she got up for dinner, she realized that her right hand was not working properly. She told us but we couldn’t understand anything because the symptoms was not visible. We thought she was feeling like that because of the cold. It is very cold in India during Christmas.

Unfortunately, my mother had brain stroke on Dec, 24 but the symptoms was not visible on her body and so we failed to identify it. The symptoms was visible on the next day early in the morning. She started stammering. Her voice was not so clear and the right hand was bent. We were very sorry because we couldn’t identify the symptoms of paralysis in time. We consulted the regarding doctor. He ordered a brain scan test for my mother. After check up he told that there was no hemorrhage in the brain. So no need to admit her in the hospital. He prescribed medicines and said to contact a good physiotherapist.

A paralyzed patient faces the most problem in the toilet. I gained real experience to see the condition of my mother. However, we were confident that my mother would again be able to move their body organs freely by doing physiotherapy. One of my colleagues told me that the possibility of reviving paralyzed organs is very low. He shared the condition of his grand mother who was also suffering from paralysis and was doing physiotherapy for a long time, but the output was zero. This type of info, no doubt, demoralize you. Yet I didn’t give up and kept trying to help my mother recover from the illness. However there is no improvement in her hand, leg, and voice.

One hour physiotherapy is not enough to improve paralyzed organs. Patients should exercise themselves whenever they get time in a day. However, there is no guarantee that patients will be able to revive their organs. Yet you shouldn’t lose your hope.

Now my mother stopped doing physiotherapy exercise. Her hand muscles have been very hard and fingers have been bent again. Two days ago I tried to make her fingers straight but she started crying due to extreme pain. The pain was bound to happen because my mother had stopped doing exercise long time ago. I don’t know about medicines but every doctor suggests physiotherapy for paralyzed patients. This is the only way to revive their organs.
