Spanish flu in 1918 and Covid-19 flu 2020 in India

This is not the first time the entire world is struggling with a dangerous pandemic. Even before this, people have faced various types of pandemics many times. One of them is known as Spanish flu. The spanish flu pandemic spread in 1918 after the First World War and was in existence till 1920.

Just as there is no antibiotic and vaccine available to stop the corona virus spread at this time, in the same way these medicines were not available to treat the Spanish flu. Science did not progress that much at that time. Even today, science has no medicine that can stop the Covid-19 virus. It is found completely new, and scientists from all over the world are engaged in the discovery of a new vaccine that can eradicate corona virus from this world.

In the absence of antibiotics and vaccines, at that time the governments had controlled the Spanish flu by getting people to follow social and physical distancing. Spanish flu is also known as influenza pandemic. Around 50 to 100 million people lost their lives worldwide due to Spanish Flu. And approximately, 12 to 13 million people were killed in India only during this influenza pandemic. We know that Indians generally need wood for cremation of dead body. But unfortunately, increasing death toll caused the scarcity of wood in India and people was unable to manage sufficient wood for cremation. I came to know about the Spanish flu when people started getting infected with Covid-19 virus in India.

I don't know whether governments of all countries had imposed lockdown at that time. But this time I found that lockdown was implemented almost in every country to curb Covid-19 virus spread. However, it is not a treatment, but a wonderful tool to control the corona virus spread from one human to another. Death toll could be higher in India, if government wouldn't have imposed lockdown on 23rd May, 2020. They advised people to stay at home and follow social and physical distancing and wear face mask. However, people were allowed to take essential things to their home. People found outside home without any reason, government penalised them. But now government allowed buses and autorickshaw to run on the road with 20 passengers and 2 passengers respectively provided people must have to follow social and physical distancing rules.

This photo is taken by me. I have already shared it on Hive. Now I just want to post here so that you can see the impact of lockdown in India.

However, number of corona patients are increasing everyday and till yesterday it was around 151000 in India including the patients who recovered from it. Lockdown 4.0 will end on 31st May, 2020 and so Home Minister of India asked every state for their opinion on the next lockdown. It seems that the war with Corona virus will continue until scientists invent a vaccine. lockdown may remain for longer time to control its spread. However, Indian government has already furnished sufficient beds and equipments for future corona patients because they know it may increase due to exemption in lockdown.

Lockdown was imposed because initially government was not able to understand how to deal with Corona virus. It transfers from one human to another when they come in contacts and there was no medicine to treat this disease. That's why Indian government immediately imposed lockdown so that the increasing number of corona patients can be controlled. And government became successful to control the spread of corono virus to a large extent. But it is not possible to stay at home for longer time. It will ruin the entire economy. And so Indian government allowed people to go offices and factories provided they will have to follow all the conditions like social and physical distancing rules and wearing mask on face.

I have taken some spanish flu info from here
