Rajasthan is the only state in India that has a large dry area known as the Thar Desert covering upto 200000 square kilometer. It is also called the Great Indian Desert as 85 percent of the thar area is found in India and the rest 15 percent in Pakistan. It is one of the largest deserts in the world that acquires 18th position. This large desert also acts as a border between India and Pakistan. In India, Rajasthan has 60 percent of the desert and remaining covers some area in Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana.
