Peristaltic movement is a phenomenon to push the food forward in our digestive system. It occurs in the muscles of the food canal in the three different areas – esophagus, stomach and intestines. It is a kind of progressive wave that can be short or long contraction. Continuous contractions help foods travel from esophagus to large intestine.
